BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Scott Gustafson, Florida Tech professor and director of Community Psychological Services, has been named president of the Association of Psychology Training Clinics.

Gustafson has been treasurer of the group for the last eight years and an APTC member for 14 years overall. He will officially assume the presidency at the APTC spring conference in March, serving as president for two years and past president for two years.

As treasurer, he tripled the group’s operational funding and put the mechanism in place for the organization to invest sufficient funds to start foundational activities, such as helping to fund development projects. He will look to continue that fiscal strengthening as president.

“My goals for the presidency,” Gustafson said, “is to solidify the investiture vehicles and develop the fiduciary mechanisms for sustainability to further the goals of clinical training.”

The Association of Psychology Training Clinics is the national organization for directors of psychology training clinics.

Its members are directors of clinics that are typically associated with pre-doctoral graduate training programs in professional psychology clinical, community, counseling, clinical child, and school psychology at regionally accredited universities.

ATPC covers a wide range of training elements, such as funding, regulatory compliance, training innovation and outreach, student support, privacy, and training technology. It supports training clinics by providing policy and standards recommendations, training guidelines, and continuing education for training directors.

Member clinics span the continental United States and Canada and include some international operations, as well.
