DUNEDIN, FL — There is no shortage of things to do in the Dunedin area to get the winter holiday season off to a rollicking good start.

Christmas is 24 days away, but you don’t have to wait to start taking in all the sights and sounds of the holidays.

Dunedin Old-Fashioned Christmas & Holiday Street Parade

Watch Santa arrive during the Dunedin Old-Fashioned Christmas & Holiday Street Parade on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 4 p.m. and then stay downtown for the festivities along Main Street and Broadway Avenue in Dunedin, which run until 9 p.m.

Activities include carriage rides, train rides, a snow slide, kids’ crafts, old-fashioned games, storytelling, face painting, street performers and singers, snow flurries, an opportunity to visit with Santa and live music in Pioneer Park featuring Late Night Brass.

The parade begins at 4 p.m. and travels along Douglas Ave. from Beltrees Street north to Skinner Boulevard.

Dunedin Goes Carting Christmas Parade

Dunedin goes carting has once again partnered with the SPC Zachary L Shannon Memorial VFW Post 2550 for its annual Christmas parade. The $20 registration donation will benefit veterans in Dunedin via the VFW community outreach programs.

Participants must have an Eventbrite receipt including the QR code printed, affixed and clearly visible on their golf cart windows to enter the staging lot at the VFW.

The parade will take place Saturday, Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m.

There will be three winners announced of Dunedin Goes Carting’s Facebook page Dec. 20. Winners will receive a prize pack from Dunedin Goes Carting including prizes from local businesses.

The route begins at the VFW Post 2550 located at 360 Douglas Ave. and ends after the loop at Mease Manor where participants will disperse at Orange Avenue and Virginia Street.

Staging will take place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. with music, food, drinks and a visit from Santa and Buddy the Elf.

Additionally, on Friday, Dec. 16, Dunedin Goes Carting will host a Neighborhood Light Tour.

Members will meet at 5 p.m. at the grass lot of Our Lady of Lourdes, 720 San Salvador, start the tour at 7 p.m. through the neighborhoods, and end at Pi Pizza Bar for food, drinks and entertainment.

Holly Jolley Trolley Light Tours

Hop on the Jolley Trolley for a 90-minute tour to some of the area’s best light displays.

Sit back and enjoy snacks or a drink as you sing along to holiday songs. BYOB is welcome.

The tours depart from both Crabby’s Dockside and the Clearwater Historical Society. A rum bucket is included for those guests who hop on at Crabby’s Dockside at Clearwater Beach.

The tour will take trolley riders from light displays in Sand Key to the Sponge Docks on Thursday, Friday and Sunday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The cost is $19.99 to $36.95.

Santa’s Twilight 5K

Join the fun at Santa’s Twilight 5K Saturday, Dec. 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. starting at Veterans Memorial Marina Park, 110 Veterans Memorial Lane in Safety Harbor.

Sponsored by AdventHealth, participants will receive a T-shirt, holiday-themed finisher medal, glow sticks for the run, jingle bells for their shoes, and holiday cookies and hot chocolate at the finish.

Holiday Lights In Largo Central Park

The annual Holiday Lights in Largo Central Park will be presented by the city of Largo through Jan. 1.

This family-friendly annual tradition features a holiday light display, carousel and seven-story Ferris wheel that offers a bird’s-eye view of the 70-acre Largo Central Park and more than two million twinkling LED lights.

Park admission is free. Rides are $5 each. Food will be for sale on-site.

The rides and light display are open nightly from 5 to 11 p.m. through Jan. 1, except on Dec. 3 when lights and carnival rides are free from 6 t0 10 p.m.

Palm Harbor Gift Market

The Palm Harbor Gift Market will take place Saturday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot at White Chapel & Harbor Hall, 1190 Georgia, Ave., Palm Harbor.

It will feature more than 60 vendors and food trucks.

The Greater Palm Harbor Chamber of Commerce and Palm Harbor Parks & Recreation have partnered to bring Palm Harbor this new holiday market as an extension of the annual Palm Harbor Christmas Parade.

The market is free to attend, and will feature handmade, upcycled, retail and resale gifts.

Palm Harbor Holiday Parade

The annual Palm Harbor Holiday Parade will take place Saturday, Dec. 10 from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m., featuring floats, community leaders, classic cars and Santa Claus.

The parade begins at 12th Street and Delaware Avenue and ends at 11th Street and Michigan Avenue.

The cost to participate is $20 for golf carts, $30 for nonprofits and $50 for businesses.

4th Annual Oldsmar Golf Cart Parade

The fourth annual Oldsmar Golf Cart Parade will take place Saturday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. at the Oldsmar Public Library.

Join golf cart enthusiasts for a decorated holiday parade through downtown. The $5 registration fee per cart is open through Dec. 9. To register, call 813-749-1152 or click here.

Lights In The Garden

The Florida Botanical Gardens Foundation will host its annual winter fundraiser, Holiday Lights in the Garden, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. nightly through Jan. 1. The gardens at 12520 Ulmerton Road, Largo, will sparkle with one million twinkling LED lights in a multitude of colors. Vibrant laser lights and lighted figures round out the display.

The suggested donation is $10 per person with ages 12 and under free. Leashed pets are welcome.

There are two entrances: 12221 Walsingham Road, Largo, and 12520 Ulmerton Road, Largo.

Admission is a suggested donation of $5 with children age 12 and under and garden members admitted for free.

2022 Clearwater Extravaganza

Throughout the month of December, downtown Clearwater will be transformed with bright lights, festive decorations, artistic window displays and spirited activities for the 2022 Holiday Extravaganza.

The Downtown Clearwater Holiday Stroll will take place nightly all December during which families are invited to stroll downtown and enjoy the millions of holiday lights.

Families can take in free pop-up performances in Station Square Park, 612 Cleveland St., Dec. 14-16 at 6 p.m. along with performances by:

  • Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. – MZ Dance Studio
  • Dec. 14 at 4:30 p.m. – Frozen Stories in the Park
  • Dec. 14 at 6:30 p.m. – The Clearwater Band
  • Dec. 15 at 6:30 p.m. – The Plumb Elementary Chorus

On Thursday, Dec. 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be a Holiday Jingle Food Truck Thursday at Station Square Park with two food trucks, desserts, music, games and some holiday surprises.

That evening from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Cleveland Street and Fort Harrison Avenue, Amplify Clearwater will present “Cocktails and Candy Canes.” Click here to register.

Do your Christmas shopping at The Market Marie on Cleveland Street Saturday, Dec. 10, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The outdoor farmers and artisan market will feature a unique mix of more than 100 local vendors selling holiday decorations and gifts. There will be a visit from Santa as well.

Holiday Spirit Of Lights Festival

On Friday, Dec. 9 from 6 to 10 p.m., there will be a free Holiday Spirit of Lights Festival on Cleveland Street from Osceola Avenue to East Avenue.

Stroll through the holiday lights and experience a night of festivities including glow-in-the-dark putt-putt, train rides, bounce houses, face painting and holiday picture opportunities. There will also be carolers, live music, stiltwalkers, the Grinch, Elsa, Ana, Olaf, reindeer and Santa.

Attendees will be asked to help stuff a trolley for Kimberly Home by donating items such as diaper bags, diaper creams, baby wipes, paper towels, baby bath towels, wash clothes, washcloths, baby pajamas, onesies, socks, crib sheets, baby blankets, baby accessories, twin bed sets, pillows, books, baby toys, toddler toys or gift cards

This event is presented by the city of Clearwater, Clearwater Downtown Development Board and the Clearwater Community Redevelopment Agency.

2nd Annual Home For Holidays Paws On Parade

The second annual Home for the Holidays Paws on Parade, benefiting the Humane Society of Pinellas, will take place Saturday, Dec. 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bring your furry loved ones to wag, woof and celebrate during the second annual holiday pet parade. Dress your family and pets in their holiday finest for photos with Santa, compete for the title of “best-dressed pet,” enjoy treats, visit with local pet rescue groups and shop at a pet vendor market.

The parade will kick off at Cleveland Street and Fort Harrison Avenue at 11 a.m. and continue to Station Square Park from noon to 2 p.m. where awards will be presented for best-dressed small, medium and large dog, Best in Show, most festive pairing (of pets and humans) and the fan favorite.

It’s free to march but donations to the Humane Society of Pinellas will be appreciated.

Clearwater Jazz will host its Jazz Holiday Wanderlust Concert Series Saturday nights at Station Square Park.

49th Annual Pinellas Park Christmas Parade

The 49th Annual Pinellas Park Christmas Parade will take place Saturday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. starting at Park Boulevard and the railroad tracks at 58th Street, proceeding east to The Shoppes at Park Place.

Attendance ranges from 5,000 to 7,500 people so come early for a good place to watch. The parade route will be closed to traffic no later than 4 p.m. Spectators are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets starting at 4:30 p.m.

The parade generally features 110 to 120 individual entries.

Handicapped seating is available at Taylor Family Funeral Home at 5300 Park Blvd. The seating area is only accessible from 53rd Street via 70th Avenue.

Merry Beach Festival In Madeira Beach

The Merry Beach Festival, featuring more than 130 vendors, will take place Saturday, Dec. 10, from 2 to 8 p.m. at R.O.C. Park/Madeira Beach Recreation Complex, 200 Rex Place, Madeira Beach.

In addition to vendors selling a variety of holiday decorations and gifts, there will be live music and food and beverage stands, including a beer garden featuring 3 Daughters Brewery.

Stay to watch the 56th annual Madeira Beach Lighted Boat Parade and Madeira Beach Christmas Tree Lighting with family holiday photo opportunities with Santa.

There will also be a:

  • Petting farm
  • Kids’ snow zone
  • Photo ops with Santa
  • Candy cane-eating contest

The market is also a collection site for the Madeira Beach Christmas Toy Shop to help make the holidays brighter for local children.

Redington Beaches-Indian Shores Holiday Boat Parade

The Redington Beaches-Indian Shores Holiday Boat Parade will take place Sunday, Dec. 18.

The boats will gather at the Tom Stuart Causeway at 5:45 p.m. for a 6 p.m. start. The best viewing areas are ROC Park in Madeira Beach, 161st Avenue Causeway in Redington Beach, Del Bello Park in Redington Shores, Park Boulevard Boat Ramp area and behind Indian Shores Town Hall.

The entire route takes approximately three hours to complete.

The parade concludes at Caddy’s Indian Shores where raffles and prizes will be awarded.

There will be a captain’s meeting and party on Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 6:30 p.m.

2022 Pass-A-Grille/Vina Del Mar Lighted Boat Parade

What better way to kick off the Christmas season than join Coastal Cruises for a Christmas Boat Parade aboard Santa’s Sleigh?

Every year all of the local yachts decorate their boats with thousands of lights and spread Christmas cheer parading around the intercostal neighborhoods of St. Pete Beach.

Residents are invited to join one of the three-hour tours aboard St. Pete Coastal Cruises’ 50-foot catamaran with seating for 40, a bar and a bathroom on board.

Cruises will take place Dec. 9 from South Pasadena, Dec. 10 from Pass-A-Grille and Dec. 17 from Treasure Island.

Indian Rocks Beach Christmas Boat Parade

The city of Indian Rocks Beach annual city of Indian Rocks Beach Christmas Lighted Boat Parade at the Holiday Inn Harbourside will be held Saturday, Dec. 17, at 7 p.m.

37th Annual Treasure Island Lighted Boat Parade

Treasure Island will host its 37th Annual Treasure Island Lighted Boat Parade on Friday, Dec. 17.

The Treasure Island Boat Parade, featuring a variety of boats, is one of the largest lighted boat parades in the Tampa Bay area.

A holiday celebration will be held at Treasure Bay Resort & Marina, 11125 Gulf Blvd., from 5-7:30 p.m. with a DJ, a visit by Santa and Mrs. Claus, interactive entertainers and food and beverage concessions.

The parade will begin promptly at 6:20 p.m. just south of the Treasure Island Bridge. The route travels south of Paradise Island, back through the Treasure Island Causeway Bridge at 7 p.m., around the Isles of Palms and Capri, and finishes at Johns Pass at approximately 8:15 p.m.

The awards party for results and prizes, featuring a dinner, will be held immediately following the parade at Crabby’s on the Pass.

Christmas Adventure Paddle Tour And Holiday Boat Parade

Ocean Fitness Yoga will host a Christmas Adventure Paddle Tour and Holiday Boat Parade Saturday, Dec. 17 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at Ron McKenny Park, 9300 Blind Pass Road, St. Pete Beach.

Christmas outfits are encouraged. Light yourself up and get ready for a unique evening paddle while watching the Treasure Island Holiday Boat Parade on the water. Lights are mandatory (headlamp, led lights, flashlight, body lights, glowsticks).

The cost is $50 per person and includes a paddleboard, life jacket and souvenir photos.
