It’s Christmas Day. And it’s cold. At least for South Florida.
If you’re up early unwrapping gifts, you’ve awoken to temperatures in the mid-40s, and feeling even colder with the wind chill.
By Christmas afternoon, the high won’t even break 60 degrees for the second straight day. And at night, the final candle-lighting for Hanukkah, it will be colder than usual again.
So what does that mean for your holidays? What to know:
How cold is it?
Miami registered 48 degrees, Fort Lauderdale 46 and Key West 56 at 6 a.m. Sunday. The wind chill in parts of Miami-Dade and Broward made it feel around 40.

Temperature at kickoff for Dolphins-Packers game
Temperature at 1 p.m. kickoff on Christmas Day will be in the low-50s at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. That doesn’t give the Miami Dolphins much of a weather advantage over the Packers, with the usual heat and humidity sucking the energy from visiting teams. Then again, it could be worse: The Dolphins could be playing in Green Bay, where Sunday’s high will be 9 degrees.
Afternoon highs
The weather service says the afternoon high will be 55 in Miami.
Sunday night, Monday morning and beyond
Will the cold continue? The forecast calls for another cold night, with a low of 48 Sunday night into Monday morning, which is a federal holiday recognizing Christmas. But it’ll be warmer on Monday afternoon, with a high around 67, according to the National Weather Service, That gradual warming trend will continue into Monday night and early Tuesday, with a low of 58, before Tuesday afternoon temperatures rebound to the low-70s.. By Wednesday and Thursday, the afternoon highs will be near 80 once again. Orr, of Local 10, says that by next weekend, the 80s will be back. So, will we miss this cool-down then?
