On the men’s side, the Vols continue their tough slate to open the season, facing their third straight top-10 opponent. In their last meet against the No. 10 Louisville Cardinals, Tennessee dominated the free sprints, with Jordan Crooks (19.35) and Gui Caribe (19.40) touching the wall for first and second with top-5 nationally ranked times. Caribe posted the fastest time in the 100 free as well with a mark of 42.81, which ranks fifth in the nation and is the best mark among freshmen. The duo earned SEC weekly honors for their performances.

On the women’s side, the Lady Vols will look to gain some momentum heading into the Tennessee Invitational later in the month. Several swimmers have put together strong starts to the season. Kristen Stege is undefeated in the 1000 free after winning the 1650 free at SECs each of the last two years. Josephine Fuller won all three of her individual events during the meet against Louisville, sweeping the backstroke events and placing first in the 200 IM to earn SEC Swimmer of the Week honors. Mona McSharry, last year’s SEC Champion in the 100 breast, swept the breast races against the Cardinals.
