The Nation’s Weather for Saturday, January 14, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Much of the eastern two-thirds of the nation will be free
from major storms and precipitation today. However, a storm
will brew just off the Atlantic coast with the potential to
bring snow, rain and wind into parts of New England on
Sunday. Following a frosty start in parts of Florida, the
air will stay chilly despite sunshine today. Temperatures
are forecast to rebound over the Plains and Mississippi
Valley. Meanwhile, another major storm will affect much of
California with heavy rain, life-threatening flooding and
mudslides and travel-snarling mountain snow. The ongoing
storms will continue to chip away at the long-term drought
in the region as reservoirs slowly fill with runoff. Some
rain and high-elevation snow are also in store for western
Washington and Oregon.
