Trump Backs Florida Social Media Law in Supreme Court Filing

Former President Donald Trump urged the US Supreme Court to let the government impose anti-discrimination requirements on social media companies, throwing his support behind a Florida law that says platforms can’t ban political candidates.

Florida is asking the nation’s highest court to take up the case after a federal appeals court blocked part of the law as probably violating the First Amendment.

Florida Republicans crafted the law last year after Twitter Inc. and Meta Platform Inc.’s Facebook suspended Trump’s accounts in the aftermath of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack.
